2003 NFW Weekend
Another NFW foxhunt
found KARS fox hunters in
yet another old
graveyard near the Kankakee River.
A couple of years
back, we found the fox in
a graveyard not
far from this fox's lair.
The lure of whether
or not to cross the Kankakee River,
and where, are
part of the attraction for spots like this one.
The fox, a KARS
board member,
and local high
school science teacher, at the
Bradley / Bourbonnais
HS, Jim Schreiner, K9BIG
found a beautiful,
yet well hidden spot.
Jim was changing
power with his IC-706 mk2,
and if that's
not all, the antenna was a home made
wire J-Pole,
hanging in a tree floating with the breeze.
Talk about signal
fluctuations and reflections!
This was a tough
hunt, indeed...
Jim plans to incorporate
fox hunting, and HF operating
into his classroom
this school year, complete
with an HF station
in the classroom...
Thanks Jim, great job!
